Scripture
Matthew 2:12
“And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their own country by another way.”
⸻
Big Idea (For Parents)
Scripture teaches that those who steward God’s revelation faithfully are often entrusted with more. Having rightly recognized the true King, the wise men were prepared to listen when God spoke again.
⸻
Family Reflection
(Read aloud or summarize)
After the wise men worship Jesus, God gives them a warning.
Not a command with a long explanation.
Not a dramatic sign in the sky.
Just a clear instruction: do not return to Herod.
The road they had traveled before was not wrong.
What mattered was that God had now shown them something new.
And they listened.
The wise men are given this warning because they have already shown themselves faithful with what God revealed earlier.
They followed the star.
They believed the Scriptures.
They bowed before the true King.
So when God entrusts them with further guidance, they steward it faithfully.
Responding well to one epiphany, often leads to God granting you more of them.

Discussion Questions
(Choose 1–2)
• Why do you think God warned the wise men about Herod?
• What had the wise men already done that showed they took God seriously?
• Why is it important to listen carefully when God shows us something new?
• How can being faithful with small instructions prepare us for bigger ones?
⸻
Practice — Stewarding the Light Well
This week, we practice faithfulness with what God has already shown us.
Practice Faithful Proximity
Spend a few unhurried minutes together with Scripture or prayer this week.
Faithfulness begins with staying close to what God has already revealed.
Practice Careful Obedience
Talk together about one small way God may be calling you to be more faithful with the revelation He’s already given you.
Explain to your children:
“God often gives more light to those who take the light they already have seriously.”
