Scripture
Matthew 2:3–8, 16–18
Big Idea
The Light of Christ does not only comfort—it confronts. Not everyone welcomes what it reveals.
Family Reflection
When the wise men arrive in Jerusalem, not everyone rejoices. Herod is afraid. Jerusalem is troubled (V3). The same Light that draws worship from some exposes idolatry in others. Epiphany reminds us that resistance to Jesus often comes not from a misunderstanding of who He is, but from a crystal clear one. If He is the ultimate King, then I can’t be.
Discussion Questions
• Why was Herod afraid of Jesus?
• Why do you think the Light feels threatening to some people?
• Are there times we resist God because we’re afraid of the things He may require us to change?
Practice—Choosing Trust Over Control
• Name one small area where your family tends to worry or control outcomes that may be beyond your purview.
• Pray together: “Jesus, help us trust Your Light, even when it challenges us.”
