Psalm 150 is an exuberant psalm of praise that closes the entire psalter in order to show us that praise is the conclusion toward which our lives as God’s people, and indeed, the world, as God’s dwelling place, is headed.

Discussion/Reflection Material

-Psalm 150 calls for enthusiastic praise in God’s sanctuary. For some people, that’s a natural thing to offer the Lord—their personality type is prone to it. For others, external expressions of enthusiasm are more difficult to conjure. Which one are you and how does this call to exuberance land on you?

-In verses 3 and 4 the instruments developed in the exiled city of Cain are incorporated into the worship of God in His holy city. What does this teach us about the Church’s relationship to the world/culture outside of the Church?

-How is this Psalm related to the Great Commission?

Big Idea: Psalm 150 teaches us that in the end, all of our hard, good, bad, joyful, and sad times are going to be gathered into a wonderful chorus of praise when we can finally see all of the saving and sanctifying work that God was doing through it all.

Talk about it: 1) Have you ever gone through something hard, bad, or sad and then realized later that it was good for you and that you were grateful for it? 2) How can that experience help you trust God the next time you go through something hard, bad, or sad?

Pray about it: God help me to remember that you are always faithful and kind even when what I’m experiencing doesn’t feel like it. Help me remember that every path—even the dark scary-looking ones—will eventually lead to praise as long as I trust and follow You.
